In editing, “TK” means “to come.” As in, content to come later. This newsletter has been TK for awhile now, and this year—it’s coming.
Welcome to Good Graf, where style meets substance in the world of words.
I’m Carly Ayres, a writer and strategist in New York. I have worked in design and tech for over ten years, shaping narratives for launch campaigns, editorial publications, chat bot personalities, weird websites, global conferences—you name it.
Currently I do that as part of Figma’s Content & Editorial team where we publish Shortcut, a blog about people, and the priorities, plans, and pivots they discover along the path of bringing new ideas to life. Previously, I did it at Google as part of the team that published Google Design and hosted SPAN, an annual conference on design and technology. I co-founded a design studio called HAWRAF, and a creative community called 100s Under 100. I’ve written for Communication Arts, Wallpaper*, Core77, and It’s Nice That. FastCompany named me one of the 100 Most Creative People in Business. Now I’m trying this.
Expect a platter of the good stuff: writing tips that actually spice up your sentences, design chatter that cuts through the jargon, and hot takes on topics like AI and authenticity. No fluff, no filler—just the juicy bits. Okay, some fluff. Because fluff is good, too.
